Melbourne School of Engineering Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering

Welcome

Welcome

Greetings and a warm welcome to our website! The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering has a long tradition of excellence and contribution to the welfare of society, the economy and the natural environment.

Our Department provides undergraduate and postgraduate courses which are attended by Australian and overseas students from many countries.

Sustainable development is the underpinning philosophy of our undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Our undergraduate program in Civil Engineering places increased emphasis on the engineering and material sciences, complex systems, an integration of the sub-discipline specialisations and more problem based learning using integrated design case studies. Our undergraduate program in Environmental Engineering is concerned with devising, implementing and managing solutions to protect and restore the environment.

Our postgraduate education program by coursework and research has a large student population. Our students enjoy first class laboratories and computer facilities. In our postgraduate program you will be part of a vibrant and exciting collegial and multicultural environment that will provide you with a stimulating intellectual and social experience.

We live in an age of breathtaking change and massive challenges. Our Department is continuously and thoroughly revising and developing new Civil and Environmental Engineering undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs with a view to addressing these current and future issues. We are educating the future leaders of the profession, giving students the skills and knowledge to make a significant difference to problems of the 21st Century.

Our website contains a wealth of information about our current undergraduate and postgraduate programs, and research activities in our Department. I invite you to visit and explore our website or contact us directly for more information.
