Undergraduates: Honours Calculations
The Bachelor of Engineering degree with Honours will be determined on the basis of a weighted average taken over the duration of the course.
Weightings are:
- 100-level subjects 0.0 x subject weighting
- 200-level subjects 0.1 x subject weighting
- 300-level subjects 0.3 x subject weighting
- 400-level subjects 0.6 x subject weighting
- (results in First Year may be taken into account if necessary)
The score (to two decimal places) is then ranked for the graduating class and awarded Honours Degrees as:
- > 80.00 - First Class Honours
- 75.00-79.99 - Second Class Honours Division A
- 70.00-74.99 - Second Class Honours Division B
- 65.00-69.99 - Third Class Honours
In compliance with Faculty guidelines, no more than 60% of
the graduating class may be awarded an Honours Degree.
Students will have an Honours ranking calculated from the weighted averages of the Engineering core subjects.
Lateral entry students will be considered for the degree with Honours on a case by case basis.
Academic failures may be taken into consideration when determining the level of Honours degree awarded.
